Duluth region’s history comes alive at ZenithCity.com
Rarely do we get to be present at the birth of amazing, epic things, but I have been lucky these past few months.
I was tapped to help local book publisher Tony Dierckins of X-Communications fame launch a new website, Zenith City Online (http://zenithcity.com), aimed at making Duluth’s history available to citizens, tourists and the generally curious. Chris Modec-Halvorson of Zenith City Designs led the project
My role has been to assist with implementing WordPress as a content management system (CMS) for the huge-and-growing site, which has hundreds of archive pages and is heading toward thousands.
TW.com is rolling out, steadily
Recreating this website from the ground up is taking more time and effort than I imagined when my site was infected by a malware injection about three months ago.
Of course, I’m not content to simply recreate what was there — I must redesign look-and-feel, information architecture, user interface, content, the whole works.
This site, along with another client project, gave me the opportunity to delve into all the slider plugins out there for WordPress. I opted for the Meteor Slides plugin for my print design portfolio and to keep it simple, I chose not to link the slides to other files or stories.
Off Google “suspicious” list, Tomwilkowske.com celebrates
Whoopee!
We here at Tomwilkowske.com are happy to report that those typing the URL “tomwilkowske.com” into their browsers will no longer be interrupted by the scary red MALWARE warning page.
In a related story, those searching on my name will no longer see the “this site may harm your computer” warning above the link.
Google confirms it: we’re clean. We’re having an extra dollop of cream in our coffee to celebrate.
Tomwilkowske.com is clean but still on Google watchlist
If you’re reading this, congratulations and don’t worry. You’re safe.
On Dec. 3, I got news that my personal website, tomwilkowske.com, a) had been infected by malware and b) put on a “suspicious” list by Google as a possible “attack” site. I’ve spent much of my time since then working on these two problems.
Until my website is rebuilt, please see my online profile at eLance to see some of my writing and design work, and visit my LinkedIn profile to connect.
